The Dutch ceramicist Ecoline Adrienne van Rees was born in Buitenzorg in the Dutch East Indies (now Bogor, Indonesia) in 1890. She studied for several months with the artist Bernard Schregel in The Hague. In 1939, her works were included in the exhibition and sale "Onze kunst van heden" (Our Art of Today) at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. As a member of the Pulchri Studio in The Hague and the Vereniging tot Bevordering der Grafische Kunst, she exhibited with the group in 1938, 1940 and 1941. In 1964 she had a solo exhibition "Tussen mens en dier" (Between man and animal) at the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam. In the same year she had other solo exhibitions at the Municipal Museum in Arnhem, the Groningen Museum and the Municipal Museum of The Hague.
